About Katherine

“Writing is always a voyage of discovery.” -Nadine Gordimer

There are two things I’ve always loved; a good story and an open-ended road trip. They have more in common than one might think. A story and a road trip both start out with an idea of where they’re heading, but inevitably, something interesting, odd or unexpected appears and you take a detour.  During my 20 plus year career in television news, I sought out stories sometimes quirky, often moving, but with an element of surprise, of a side road taken.

Then, I took my own detour to start a family. During that time, I discovered new opportunities to produce and tell stories – including a first-ever, live science show at Chicago’s Adler Planetarium, a documentary on a long-forgotten Impressionist painter, and a video commemorating the 125th anniversary of an independent church.

Now I have brought these pieces together as part of my continuing road trip: stories that connect us, tell us who we are and with any luck, make the road we’re on a little lighter, more interesting, and full of traveling companions.
